History of the
Hope & Healing Worship Center

In December 2003 Pastor Hibbert and his wife Iona was asked to pastor a small church in East Point Georgia, with a membership of five members and a family of rats and roaches who showed up to every service. The building was all torn and tattered due to lack of maintenance. We had to use containers in the sanctuary to catch water from leaks during the rain. Many classroom ceilings had fallen down due to water leaks. The building was also un-insured.  On arrival the new pastor, Dr Al Hibbert set out to acquire basic insurance coverage. Much work was put into cleaning and re-furbishing by the pastor and his wife Iona who worked tirelessly, with little or no help from the other congregations. During the re-furbishing process, many visitors graced our presence but not many would return for a second visit, due to the fact there was so much work that was still needed.  Many Sundays Pastor Hibbert hesitated wearing a black suit to church because white particles kept falling directly over the Pulpit area.

Pastor Hibbert had made several attempts to raise needed funds to replace the roof but could find no help. How-ever, his faith remained un-shaken. On November 2005 during a morning worship, pastor Hibbert not knowing where the funds was coming from, stood up and boldly declared to the small congregation, that “by April next year 2006 God was going to bless us with a new roof”.  Everyone thought he spoke out of frustration, but God was speaking words to him that no one else could hear.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

On Jan 6th2006 while the pastor was at home, he received a call form a ABC news reporter, informing him that the church was on fire. What seems to be a disaster was now a blessing. The congregation spent three months in a small hotel room, but because of our determination to fulfill the mission of helping families, we acquired another building for which we are grateful to God. Since the acquisition we have been working to make it a welcoming place for everyone who look forward to times of fellowship and the opportunity to realize that someone care about them.
